Ensuring pensioners claim all the benefits in which they are entitled to

From October 2008 pensioners - subject to Parliamentary approval - pensioners will be able to claim four benefits (the State Pension, Pension Credit, Council Tax Benefit and Housing Benefit) in one phone call to the Pension Service.

Do you have your entitlement?

But Clive wants to ensure that all pensioners start to claim what's rightfully theirs now. The take up of benefits amongst the poorest pensioners is still only around 81 per cent. So many pensioners are still not claiming the benefits in which they are rightly entitled to, so if you are unsure that you or a member of family or even friend is not claiming their full entitlement give them the information provided:

"I would recommend that all pensioners phone the Pension Service on 0800 169 0133 . It is a free call and pensioners will receive expert advice on what benefits they are entitled to. Even if you think you are not entitled to any benefits it is worth calling to make sure. Owning a home or having or a private pension does not automatically disqualify you from Pension Credit or other benefits."

Alternatively people can access the Pension Services online calculator that enable people to calculate whether they are entitled to pension credit and other benefits, click
