A new police team is now policing the Brooklands Park Estate.
In the past, this estate was patrolled by a SNT (Safer Neighbourhood Team) based at East Greenwich Police station, which is some distance away. But thanks to the work of councillor Clare Morris and Labour's Clive Efford, the police have re-organised their teams.
This now means the SNT which polices the Ferrier Estate, only a short walking distance away, will cover Brooklands Park. Clare believes this will lead to greater police
presence in the area and safer streets as a result. Clare explained, "For all residents this will mean closer and more responsive policing.
Clive added " I am delighted the police have listened to the views of local people and made this change."
Safer Neighbourhood Teams are a major anti-crime initiative to tackle anti-social behaviour and improve community relations. The new team is made up of a sergeant, two PCs and three PCSOs. They are dedicated to policing a specific area to help prevent crime and anti-social behaviour.
