Coldharbour Walkabout 12th March 2007

Coldharbour Walkabout 2007

These are the notes that were taken on Clive's Walkabout on the Coldharbour Estate on Monday 12 March 2007

1. Neighbourhood Office
Market Place moving in to Neighbourhood Office
Pop in parlour closing 31st March 2007. Age Concern no longer require it and Social Services are going to stop paying the rent. Clive wants to develop the Neighbourhood Office as a neighbourhood resource for tenants and people who use the pop in.

2. The Crest
Complaints about the number of dogs in the block: problem of mess on grass in front of block. Tenancy Services Officers (TSOs) will be given powers to issue notices on dog owners. Plan for TSOs to do this with a Police Community Support Officer. This is currently under discussion and it is hoped it will be introduced under the Neighbourhood Office working arrangements.

New panels have been installed in front door from last walkabout.

Work on fire alarm completed. The new security is working and residents were pleased that things had improved.

Signs in the foyer look in a poor state and replacing them would help improve the appearance of the entrance.

Second floor flue - pigeons still nesting

Signs on foyer not done

Foyer floor needs painting - colour faded. Now that the problem of graffiti and young people loitering in the foyer has been resolved we should look to improve the overall appearance of the communal areas.

Communal windows – need cleaning

Graffiti on door inside bin chute room on first floor.

3. The Mound
Graffiti rear of Mound – is being painted out but is continually happening; may be worth painting a darker colour – residents recommended black

Water for caretaker – the water supply has not been provided despite being told this has been resolved. A new water supply has just been installed that passes close to the garage near the pop in. Can a supply be taken from this into the block?

Water supply was altered for new launderette but not brought in to block. The pipe passes under the garage beside pop in.

Stains on Mound staircases where people have spat on the walls

Pigeons roosting above shops – nests need to be removed

Signs at front of block still not replaced

4. James Newman Court
Sheds - waiting for money to be identified to demolish at least some of them. Residents’ survey asked for them to be kept. One block of sheds has severe structural damage. People in bedsits need them for storage and would like them to be kept.

Widening of side entrances to allow sit-on grass cutter – still waiting for this to be done.

The grass needs cutting.

A Decent Homes show flat for James Newman Court residents to view will be open 20th March 2007

Square needs resurfacing – tree roots have lifted pavements

Window panel next to front door is still broken

The block needs a deep clean – dirt on surfaces on stairs
