There has been more money invested i Avery Hill under Labour than at any time since the estate was first built.
The Decent Homes scheme has improved council homes on the estate. £200 million is being spent in the borough to ensure that every council tenant lives in a home that meets the national standards by 2010. This is being achieved in Greenwich without the transfer of ownership of any homes.
Avery Hill is covered by a dedicated police Safer Neighbourhood Team of six officers led by Sgt Frank O'Brien. He can be contacted on 020 8721 2636 or 07920 233827.
The team operate closely with the neigbourhood wardens who work with residents, the council, the police and other agencies to tackle crime and antisocial behaviour on the estate. The idea of having wardens in the area came directly from local residents who sat on the South Neigbourhood Renewal Panel, which is chaired by Clive Efford. Further information on the Boroughs Safer Neighbourhood Team's can be found here.
