Clive Opens the Greenacres Children Centre

Clive officially opened the Greenacres Children's Centre on the Coldharbour Estate. The Centres provides a range of services, including early years learning, childcare, family health services, and advice and support for parents. There are now 2,900 Children's Centres across England and the government is on course to meet its target of having 3,500 centres by 2010.

"These Children's Centres are already begining to have an impact", said Clive. "A recent independent evaluation report found that Sure Start was having a positive impact on the lives of children and families. As every parent knows, the earliest years of a child's life are critical to their future development. It's also a time when parents need advice and support. That’s why this Centre and others like it across my constituency are so important."
