Avery Hill Walkabout 14th July 2008

Avery Hill Walkabout

Notes taken on Clive's walkabout on the Avery Hill Estate on Monday 14th July 2008.

Street Cleaning
Scarab – Cleansweep lost one machine which has only just been replaced – this led to a temporary drop in the quality of the service.
Some kerbsides were caked with mud which is allowing weeds to take root. The new weed killers are not killing them. Consideration needs to be given to a new method of removing weeds and keeping the kerbsides clean of soil that allows them to grow.

Hedges
Overgrowing pavements – we need to clarify which are the communal areas and remain the responsibility of the council and those that are the responsibility of residents. Verona Norris will verify who has responsibility for each area.

Block 80-96 Alderwood Road

- Hole in fence
- Rubbers missing on metal gates
- Weeds on path beside bin room wall beside Wayfield Link
- Hawthorn overgrowing path
- Clive has emailed pictures of the poor state of the Mears site to Considerate Construction Site Scheme to highlight the unacceptable situation.
- Tree needs cutting back around light next to Alderwood surgery

Ospringe Court

- Tree growing beside drain corner of block.
- Roof from the lean to still not removed from around entrance to Laundry; this is encouraging people to congregate in this area and disturb the residents
- Laundry - rubbish outside needs clearing
- Coping needs reinstating outside numbers 1-10
- Top floor - wiring hanging down ceiling – paint hanging off
- Rubbish on landing
- Top floor landing surfaces need dusting – the residents were pleased with the general cleaning of lift and staircase but want the windowsills and iron railings to be wiped down. They are always overlooked.

Lydden Court
- Stairs 31-40 Trades button on permanently. This has been done because someone keeps damaging the entryphone. This is not an acceptable solution.
- Graffiti on windows
- Drain blocked beside stairs 11-20
- Overflow continually dripping from top floor flat
- 11-20 lift needs cleaning – stairs not swept. This staircase was the only one identified to be poorly maintained. This is due to young people hanging around the block every day. Clive has asked for residents to be written to.

Linsted Court
- Picnic bench moved to front of block needs moving back to the rear of the block
- Container rear of 31-39 – no one could identify who this belongs to
- 21-30 old satellite dishes need to be removed
- 21-30 broken window first floor landing

Hambledown

- shin rail opposite number 12 needs replacing

Restons Crescent

- Street sign needs to be replaced

Bexley Road Flats

- Loft hatch open
- Rear door lock needs repairing
- Blocked gully in middle of car park
- 224-234 entryphone panel broken
- Bollard missing Avery Hill Road entrance to car park at rear
