Investing in Horn Park

Clare Morris and Clive discuss developments in Horn Park

More money has been invested in Horn Park under Labour than at any time since the estate was first built.

The Decent homes Scheme has improved every council home on the estate. £200 million is being spent across the borough to make sure that every council tenant lives in a home that meets a national minimum standard by 2010.  This will be achieved in Greenwich without any transfer of ownership of any homes.

Labour is spending more on our schools and results are far higher than in 1997.  The Tories complain about Greenwich schools, but they do not point out that results are better than at any time when they were in government.

There is a new floodlit all-weather ball park and a new children's swing park in Horn Park. A new fence has also been built for the school.

Horn park is covered by a dedicated police Safer Neighbourhood Team of six officers.  The team operates out of the cop shop in the Co Op in Westhorne Avenue and is made up of a Sergeant, two PCs and three support officers.  They have been extremely successful in tackling crime on the estate ad have also set up a motorbike workshop to educate young people about the dangers of bikes and to reduce the amount of nuisance being caused by people riding them illegally on the estate. Further information on the Boroughs Safer Neighbourhood Team's can be found here.

Working together with local people, the police and council are making a difference here on Horn Park.
