Clive's latest walkabout on Avery Hill took place on 5 March 2007.
Some of the issues raised in the walkabout are listed below:
1. Anstridge Road
Kerb edges full of detritus. Residents say a clean should be done on Saturday when less cars are parked to clear the kerb of debris.
Gullies need clearing across the whole estate.
Complaint from residents that road sweepers do not clear the gully covers.
2. Bexley Road
Parking area rear of Bexley shops needs sweeping
3. Bexley Road 200-222
Entry doors at street level not locking shut
Stairs need deep clean
Flooring in entrances torn - needs replacing
Paint ball splashes all over wall above staircase – what action is being taken against residents who are known to be responsible?
Bin room covered in graffiti
4. Bexley Road Shops
Thames Water have dug up grass beside roadway that leads between Darland House and shops on Bexley Road - when will they reinstate it?
Grass verge opposite Darland House churned up by lorries mounting it to pass parked cars – Can we install grasscrete?
5. Darland House and Wootton House
- Tree at rear of Darland House needs cutting back
- Bin cupboard Wootton House not locked shut
6. Restons Crescent
One Way sign corner of Restons and Alderwood needs to be removed. Two new signs have been installed but the old one is yet to be removed.
7. Contractors Site
Site huts have been located on grass in front of Ospringe without consulting residents. They have been told that the huts will be there for another 2 years. Can the Neighbourhood office clarify
what is going on? The site is covered in litter and contractors not keeping it clean.
- Mud left by tyres of contractors’ vehicles thrown up the front of Ospringe 31-40 stairwell
- Grass needs reinstating beside stairwell 1-10 Ospringe where contractors’ vehicles have been.
- Contractors skip not secured. Fence constantly bangs disturbing neighbours.
8. Ospringe and Lydden
Broken bin outside 1-10 Ospringe
Aerial cable hanging done from roof above 1-10 Ospringe – also Lydden. These whip around in wind and are potentially dangerous.
Contractors have knocked down bollard outside 1-10 Ospringe

Drain cover blocked outside 11-20 Lydden
9. 50-89 Linsted
- Magnets have been removed from front door to block.
- Graffiti on wall in stairwell.
10. Rear of Linsted
Fence around car park rear of Linsted has been broken down and has been left lying on ground – needs to be removed or reinstated
11. 11-20 Linsted
2 blocked drains Linsted near parking area. These cause flooding.
Cracked window on landing above ground floor
Landing of 13 & 14 tiles not finished inside window
- Graffiti on third floor
- Window broken and boarded up on landing above 13 & 14
- Tiles missing - ground floor on stair well

12. Greenhithe
Concern that open space at end of Hambledown is not being maintained – litter is trapped among trees. The area has now been cleared but the trees need to be pruned to make it easier for the area to
be cleared of litter and the grass to be cut.
13. Springwater
Garages behind number 2. 10 garages - only 2 occupied. Area not swept.
