A new children's centre for Avery Hill

The New Avery Hill Childrens Centre

The new children's centre in Alderwood School is now complete and will soon be fully functional.

Children's centres provide affordable childcare for working parents.  One of the barriers to parents working is the availability of childcare. "The children's centre will offer services to families in Avery Hill that in the past could only be afforded by families on high incomes" explained Clive.

As well as providing quality childcare, the centres will offer advice on job opportunities, volunteering, training and employment.

The children's centre is one of 16 centres opening across the Borough with another seven centres being planned for 2008.

Labour is commited to tackling child poverty. Clive says, "The only way to get families out of poverty is to support parents.  Parents want to work to provide for their children."

The centres are part of a national Labour initiative aimed at improving life chances of every children.

Why not visit the centre to find out what help they can offer you?
