Notes taken on a Walkabout on the Middle Park Estate on 29th September 2008

Item 1
Letter will go to Middle Park Avenue & Gregory Crescent to warn about focus on clearing front gardens. A number will be circulated to report problems.

Problem is exacerbated by charge for bulk goods. People will not pay.

Item 2
Pilot running in east of borough to tackle dog mess. Fines being issued and individuals will be targeted. New signs will need to be installed. Stencils will be phased out at that time.

Item 3
Monday and Friday Cleansweep litter pick on estate. Three men start on estate at 6am Tuesday and Wednesday.

Item 4
Chemicals used have been banned and this limits the success of the weed spraying. There will be a minimum of three sprayings next year.

Item 5
Police will be using more hand held speed cameras. Highways will carry out a survey of speed on Middle Park Avenue. Council also has speed signs that they can move to Middle Park Avenue. Residents are concerned that buses should slow down when on the estate.

Can we remove broken shin rails?

Grass Cutting: Hand held machine teams that strim edges of grass areas come round every 15 days.

Item 8
Stinging nettles in Churchbury Road near to 35. Dave Carne had arranged for Pay Back Team to clear. Trip hazard outside on path needs to be repaired – reported two months ago.

Refuse Collection: Residents are leaving bins on paths.

Item 10
Vodaphone mast on church steeple – third time it has been applied for.

Item 11
Vista Field – Gate left open near old community hall. Signs not removed.

Queenscroft Park – Metal rails missing along Kingsground.

Item 13
Pavement outside Vista Children’s Centre broken.

Hedge corner of Campfield Road/Middle Park Avenue

55-57 Churchbury Road – path needs repair
