Progress Estate Walkabout

A couple of weeks ago two local residents from the Progress Estate contacted Clive because there were a few local issues that they were unhappy about. They had contacted various organisations, from the Council to Hyde Housing, but were not completely satisfied with the result.

So Clive offered to meet up with them near their home so that they could show him the problems first hand. "Part of being a good MP is being as accessible as possible. When these two residents contacted me I was very pleased to be able to listen to them in this way and to see for myself the problems they were describing."

Clive has now taken up the following issues with the Council, the police, Hyde Housing and Thames Water.

1. Litter picking needed in the hedge that runs from Cobbett Road towards the roundabout. The hedge is apparently never cut.

2. Pavement needs repairing by the grass area on Rochester Way near junction with Cobbett Road.

3. Awning above the entrance to the cinema is in a very dangerous state and needs fencing off to protect pedestrians.

4. Walls around the grass areas on the Rochester Way facing the roundabout between Well Hall Road and Congreve Road and on the Rochester Way near the junction with Cobbett need repairing.

5. Weeds are growing next to the fences at the side of the pavement in Cobbett Road

6. An illegal sign is on the centre of the roundabout.

7. The dog fouling bin opposite the cinema entrance needs emptying more regularly.

8. There is a lot of litter in the front garden of the former social services building in Well Hall Road close to the cinema.

9. The residents complained that the area close to the roundabout on all sides is not swept regularly and the hedges are not litter picked.

10. Drain gully needs clearing in Well Hall Road in front of the tyre shop next to the cinema.

11. Garden fence hanging across pavement in front of 254 Well Hall Road.

12. 260 Well Hall Road – the wall around the grass area needs repairing in five places.

13. Outside 121 Well Hall Road there is a loose patch of tarmac on the pavement near the zebra crossing.

14. Well Hall Road street sign missing in front of 260 Well Hall Road.

15. Thames Water stopcock been leaking outside 141 Well Hall Road for over three months.

16. Water leak outside 159 Well Hall Road on grass.

17. Met Police sign asking for witnesses to a fatal car crash has been left lying on pavement.

18. Sand bags dumped on corners of Dickson Road and Well Hall Road.

19. 1 Downman fence has fallen across the pavement

20. Empty plot of land next to 1 Downman. Fence covered in graffiti. Council are taking enforcement action. Can we have an update?

21. The road at the junction of Cobbett and Dickson needs resurfacing as does the road at the corner of Cobbett and Sandby Green.
