Local school children name the new community centre for the Page Estate

Clive and Lee Abbott at the Page Estate Community Centre site

The naming of the new community centre that is being built on the Page estate was part of a competition for the children from Ealdham, Henwick and Haimo Schools.

Clive’s winning result came from Henwick School who’s local school children came up with a great name for the new Page Estate community centre; “Turning Page Across the Ages”.

The competition was organised by Lee Abbott of the Page Estate Action Project who has worked for many years to get the new Centre on the Estate where it will provide facilities for all the community.

Clive said “People sometimes ask me what I am most proud of. It is often too easy to think of the big projects that I have helped with - the Eltham Centre, getting money for new schools or the DLR and Crossrail into the Borough. But actually I am happiest when I can work with people like Lee who has done so much for her local community. I can make sure her voice and the thousands of other people up and down this constituency is heard where the decisions are made, be that in central government or in the local town hall."
