Tory Carpet Baggers attack Eltham School

The Tories should apologise for attacking an Eltham primary school for political gain in their election leaflet.

The Tories have published a leaflet attacking standards of education with a photograph taken of an Eltham primary school that was considered to be outstanding for 2007-08.

The Tories has shown that they will trample over anyone or anything for their own political gain.  Attacking Greenwich Council is one thing but to undermine the reputation of an Eltham primary school to do so is beyond contempt.

Only someone from outside of the area who has no sense of belonging within the community could act in such a contemptible manner.  The Tories did not even bother to check their facts because the school in question was given the status of outstanding by Ofsted in 2007-08.

Even if the school was in difficulties this is not the way to treat a school that is struggling to improve.  Actions of this kind offer no encouragement to teachers, parents, governors and the pupils.

Unfortunately, this is typical of the Eltham Tories who have always attacked education and have never had anything to say that is positive or encouraging for the people who work hard in our schools.

Pupil attainments in education have consistently gone up at every level under Labour and are far higher than they were at any time under the Tories.  We will not take any criticism from a Tory party who when in power left our schools starved of resources and never fixed the roofs even when it was raining.

We expect more of this vulgar rubbish from the Tories who have increasingly become detached and irrelevant within our local community.  They have nothing to offer but negative attacks.
